She says different

This isn’t mixed messages
She only sends out one
It’s long and convoluted
And sits uneasy on the tongue
But
It’s just the same
It always is…
Her conciliatory song
That i love you
That I’m a little bit worried
That she’s not sure who’s right
Nor what is wrong
As I waste what we’ve been given
Charting courses, this stagnant race,
As we writhe in guilt
Or fake and wait,
consumed in lies through lost nights due embrace
Her voice as calm as stone
Embittered, pleading not be left alone
There is a light that glances us
In loves fine spirals
Leaving some sweet trace…

One Night Thinking

Softly ruffled; her voice
breaking like equatorial tide
against my ear, my love

Tentatively closing on a body
quietly shivering (not with cold)
with anticipation

Wracked and closing loudly
as her breath hums tunes known well
the end is close, I’ve loved

All the while I listen for her
words pour out like treacle
my mind is alive with her games.

Maud

The talk of the town
was you stuck in the right life!
Brought up,
caught up,
stuck with a light wife.

This was your choice
finding your voice,
we tried to advise
but we lost the right voice.

Happiness (bare)

The most important thing is to have a clear vision
said a blind man
No said a short woman
the most important thing is to aspire to be higher
I disagree said a disagreeably large lad –
if you are thin you are happy
Or if one can hear
,
signed the deaf.
How can you not elect freedom of movement,
a prisoner whispered
And freedom of thought,
wrote a secretive girl
(from an undisclosed address)

On the other hand, enquired a gay guy –
acceptance is highly important to happiness,
Or maybe ones individuality brings joy
nodded a follower from amongst a crowd!
Happiness beams from the pages of books
contested an illiterate sexagenarian.
From the love of cherished offspring
sang a barren couple
From the voices of angels,
growled coarse throated smokers.
No! Please understand that happiness belongs to Men!
Gushed a feminist.
To the well-endowed
whispered a small fellow.
Surely the happiness you seek lies in the warmth of community
hollered the lonely crofter
from an isolated mountain croft…

There’s always a reason,
a question or tease
to ignite every hour as it flies…
Happy hum – bright smile,
pleased bounce
warm heart.
Knowing your peace through what may turn out lies.

Chocolate

Saturday the 13th

Tremors of confusion wrack your mind
And you’re too bonkers lost to think in time
So taking your own misery
Too seriously to grin
The laps of speedy craziness
Spiral around then in

Other peoples’ screams of joy seep
Through a split ‘tween glass and wood
Where in your house
The echoes of this delight
Bounce round your ears
And shake them good

But it’s not happiness you gleen from this
As sour grit grinds your grinding teeth
Even as the rest of town
Erupts, lost in excitement,
The tears that smear your moribund cheeks
Are not loose with relief

Oh poisoned mind
Dumb angry blind
Alone
For another swift day
Why waste these thoughts
Why curse your time
Take stock
Feel alive
And
Live your way.

Oh Deed

My dark star
