Skyscrapers

Mountains of mortar
Towering heights
Scratch their taught tendrils
and tickle the skies
Occasional mammoths of precipitation
Occasionally mount these vast elevations

As these porcupine prickers
Of cities immerse
In heady concoctions of cloud
It’s clear that to be at the top
May be worse
Than to scuttle about on the ground
